Banded Amethyst Rough. Amethyst is a variety of Quartz that has fused with Manganese and Iron during its formation. The strength of its distinctive colour is determined by how much Iron is present in its content. Bands are created in Amethyst when the crystals combine with Snow Quartz during its growth, resulting in alternating layers of colour in chevron patterns.
