A stone shaped by fire, iron, and ancient Welsh mountains.
Welsh Red Jasper carries the deep, earthy heartbeat of Mynydd Carreg on the Llyn Peninsula — one of the oldest landscapes in Britain. Formed in the late Precambrian, long before plants or animals walked the Earth, it's a stone born from silica-rich, iron-heavy fluids forced through fractured bedrock as the early Welsh mountains rose and folded.
- Rich iron red from natural haematite
- Soft pinks where manganese warms the stone
- Buff and cream streaks from pale siliceous veins
This isn’t a delicate jasper. The material from Mynydd Carreg is astonishingly tough, a hybrid of dolomitic marble and silica that once proved stronger than granite in early 20th‑century tests. It was quarried in huge blocks and hauled by traction engine to Pwllheli, eventually finding its way into London architecture. A quiet piece of Welsh history hiding in plain sight.
In the hand, it feels solid, grounding, and ancient — a stone with weight and presence.
In metaphysical circles, Welsh Red Jasper is known for:
- Strength and stamina
- Root-chakra grounding
- Courage and steady focus
- A sense of belonging to the land
But even without the metaphysics, it's simply a beautiful, characterful stone with a story that stretches back nearly a billion years.
